Bottle art

Bottles, once used are often discarded and forgotten. But they can be successfully turned into beautiful pieces of art with a few strokes of paint.

Empty and clean the bottle, remove label by soaking overnight in water to remove the glue. Dry and paint with gesso.

Now the bottle is ready for some nifty painting. Boho painting is very trendy relatively easy and eye-catching. Pick your color scheme and paint the background with acrylics and wait for the next stage.

Leafy designs, mountains etc can be used to enhance the bottle. Look up the internet to get some ideas, there are a lot of tutorials to learn and create some handmade, hand painted bottle art.

Bottle Art

Bottles are very often thrown away after use and rarely seen as works of art , but one can easily transform a mundane bottle into a beauty. It is also a great way to pass time constructively and the outcome can be displayed at home for all to see!

Recently I found a few sea shells collected during my trips to the beach , small stones bought for my succulents and a plastic net used for packing fruits. These became  my inspiration to create sea scape bottles. The large sea shells are natural ones , the starfish , smaller sea creatures are handmade with air dry clay.

The rough, textured background on the bottle was  made by gluing a paper napkin on the surface and painted blue with acrylic paints. Next step was to glue a piece of the plastic net on the surface, a glue gun can be used for the same,  small stones, sea shells and other sea creatures can be adhered to the bottle similarly. A few strategically placed  pearl beads complete the look , one can play around with  shades of blue to add depth. Faux sea creatures  available in craft shops, sand etc. can be used to add interest.

Hope this inspires someone to create something of their own and bring back memories of trips, vacations alive again.

Thanks for visiting my blog , have a nice day!

Decoupaged Bottle

Decoupage is a craft which can transform even the most mundane things like an empty bottle into a a beautiful display item. Anyone who has ventured into decoupage knows that once all materials are in hand then there is no end to experimentation.
Decoupage napkins come in a wide range of designs, floral , ethnic, pertaining to festivals, seasons etc. but  flowers , specially roses are my all time favorite. This is a small bottle on which I chose for this particular project , half white and contrasting black make the pink roses stand out much to my satisfaction.
Please comment or connect with me on my FB page featured on the sidebar for details about decoupage classes etc.

Clay art on bottle , didn't have the heart to  throw away the beautiful blue bottle or paint it. Today I just went ahead with clay flowers to make a memento and retain the awesome blue shade. Can be improved no doubt but I am quite happy with the flowers !
Perfect to display as home decor or a knick-knack.

Clay Fairy Houses

Clay fairy houses are very popular and are a favorite form of bottle art. I have tried to create my own fairy house using different type of air dry clay and glass bottles.
It was a daunting task indeed, one had to be careful to keep the lid free to rotate and unscrew the lid. It can be used as a collectible.I have put LED candles inside and the lid can be unscrewed to switch on/off the flame less candle. There are windows on the other sides and tiny miniature flowers growing around it.
Please contact me here or my FB page featured on the sidebar if you wish to order one, suggestions welcome :)
